w1b0

Dutch artist w1b0, aka Wibo Lammerts, was getting quite bored with making techno so in 2009 he decided to switch things up and that’s when he accidentally fell in love with electro music. His 'Alternate Sequence' track was first played on 'White Noise', Dave Clarke’s radio show and was later added to the track list of his 'Fabric 60' Mix CD

In 2014, w1b0’s first vinyl release saw the light of day thanks to Bass Agenda, the record label that released 'Main Squeeze Remixes'. The record contained his original, alongside remixes of The Exaltics, Boris Divider, BS-1 and Simplicity Is Beauty.

In 2016, at the first edition of the legendary Whip It party in Amsterdam’s De Melkweg, the Transhumanism collective was formed: 4 dutch artists from the Bass Agenda label (TFHats, Slaves Of Sinus, RXmode & W1b0) started releasing tracks under that name. For the first Transhumanism release, w1b0's contribution was 'Utopia Planitia'; to this day one of the biggest tracks ever released on Bass Agenda. It was heavily supported by Juan Atkins, Zeta Reticula and Helena Hauff. Up to now, four Transhumanism records have been released, with a 5th release on the way.

A very proud moment in his career was when W1b0 got to represent Bass Agenda on the line up at the March 2018 Whip It event, hosted by Dave Clarke. He appeared with a special Transhumanism DJ set, for which each of the members of the collective had made an exclusive track. 2018 was also the year of the 'PumpJack Series' release on Bass Agenda, with remixes of David Meiser, JT-Kyrke and Formshift.

In 2019, w1b0 was part of the Blind Allies 'Persuasion' project, for which he collaborated with the Scottish producer Cybereign. That project resulted in 'Prime Directive', a favourite of Berlin-based DJ Alienata, that ended up in many of her dj sets. Also in 2019 he contributed two tracks to the Scottish Hilltown Disco-collective, for their HIL005 release: 'No Souls Below The Radar' and the DJ banger 'Small Increments'.

The highlight of 2020 was the release of his first EP: a red vinyl four track EP, released on the mighty Discos Atonicos from Berlin. 2022 looked to be a very bright year with the upcoming 5 year anniversary record of HillTown Disco, and the release of w1b0’s first album, on U-TRAX.

Sadly, Wibo unexpectedly died of a heart attack on August 15, 2022, at age 51, leaving behind a wife and two young sons.
Rest in beats, dear friend.
